As we enter the final month of school, it's easy to get caught in the trap of coasting toward the finish line. Better weather, final projects, and increased responsibilities can draw us toward letting things slide or giving less than our best.
If you're feeling overwhelmed or unmotivated, start by giving yourself permission to take a short mental break. Get some fresh air, take deep breaths, or get a glass of water. Close your eyes for 5 minutes. Chunk your assignments instead of trying to do it all at once; start homework earlier in the afternoon rather than waiting until close to bed to start so you can break it into smaller, more manageable bits.
Another help is to find an accountability partner. A parent. A grandparent. An older sibling. A trusted friend. It can be anyone who will genuinely have your best interests at heart, who will be willing to hold you accountable to your work and time, and who you coach you through tough situations so you can maintain peak academic performance.
Remember that we don't have to go it alone! Reach out to a teacher or trusted adult to help you when you need a nudge or need someone to listen. Eagle Nation works best when we all work as a team toward a common goal: Success!
