The Fremont Math Academic Super Bowl Team placed 7th in the Area Meet on Tuesday, April 22. With a score of 21 out of 25, they qualified to compete at the State Academic Team meet on Saturday, May 10 at Purdue University.
Members of the team who will compete on Saturday, May 10 are Tressa Howey (the Team Captain), Gabriella Concus, and Jake Chilenski, with alternates Avi Patel, Oliver Chorpening, and Jordan Gibson. (the 1st 3 names are the A team who qualified for state, the B team gets to go along as alternatives)
The Academic Team offers 5 disciplines in which students can compete: Fine Arts, Science, English, Social Studies, and Math. Teams of 3 students work together to answer questions in their field. The competition is timed, with many questions having a limit of 20 seconds.
Each year, the competitions have a theme. This year’s theme is Ireland.
